This morning, my husband and I rolled out of bed at the ungodly (actually, God had everything to do with this) hour of 5:00 a.m. Bleary-eyed from lack of sleep, and rather cranky, too, we stumbled our way into the kitchen with arms stretched out […]

Book Launch for The River to Glory Land RESCHEDULED
WEATHER WOES AGAIN!
Book Launch/Signing RESCHEDULED
For everyone’s safety and convenience, we have decided it is best to reschedule my book launch on January 12th, due to predicted bad weather in the area.
The new book launch date will be in the spring, on April 13th, 2019 from 11am-1pm at the Market on Oak in Spruce Pine, NC (https://www.themarketonoakshop.com/)
Please be safe out there and I hope to see you on April 13th!
Many of you have been asking me when the final book in my Florida series, THE RIVER TO GLORY LAND, will be out. The official release date is December 19th, but, good news! You can now pre-order the download for your e-readers, and the soft-cover version will be available for pre-orders in another month. In the third book, you’ll be reunited with folks from book one, A CORNER IN GLORY LAND, as well as from book two, THE RISING OF GLORY LAND, plus you’ll meet quite a few new characters who will find their own ways of adding chaos, laughter and love to the family.
THE RIVER TO GLORY LAND begins in Miami in the 1920s, and my grandmother, Nell Tarilton, was my muse for this particular novel. Some of the scenes were inspired by her; like a Charleston contest my fictional character, Lily, wins. Grandma won such a dance contest in the mid-1920s, at the Roney Plaza Hotel, on Miami Beach, and received a dozen red roses as a prize. The hurricane scene at the very beginning was also inspired by Grandma, who lived through the horror of that monstrous storm. Until she died at the age of 92, she could clearly recall things that happened throughout that hellacious night. Fish hanging from the trees did, indeed, happen as a result from the tidal wave that washed through Miami. Grandma said it took weeks to clean up many thousands of fish, and the stench was enough to bring a grown man to his knees.
If you haven’t already read books one and two in the series, you might want to consider doing so now. Though each of these novels stands alone (you don’t have to read one to understand the others), I think it makes for a more enjoyable, emotionally impactful experience if you read them in order. With that being said, you can easily go to Amazon to order and/or download books one and two, along with pre-ordering the digital version for book three. To make life a little easier for you, I’ve added the links to all of them below. Just give them a click!
I owe a world of thanks to the wonderful folks at Kensington Publishing for all of their hard work on every aspect of my books…from cover to cover! Speaking of which, fresh off the press, here’s the cover for THE RIVER TO GLORY LAND. Most of all, I owe a world of thanks to you, my supportive readers. Thank you for your kind words and wonderful reviews. It’s because of you, I keep spinning new tales.

June 16th, 2017- Brand New Website Launch
Welcome to the new home of www.JanieDeVos.com! My team and I have been hard at work designing a new site. Please take a look around! I’m in the midst of writing a three-book series on old Florida, called the Glory Land series. The first book, A Corner in Glory Land, takes place in central Florida, around Silver Springs, and Lake Weir, in the 1880’s. When I was a little girl, my family spent time at Lake Weir, specifically at an old fish camp named Johnson’s, and it was those sweet old memories that helped to bring A Corner in Glory Land to life. Here is one of my favorites. Click here to view “The Littlest Angler“.
